THE FACE SHOP Lovely Me:Ex Makeup Base in Violet Review

TBH, I haven't had that much experience with colour correcting makeup bases. BUT-- if they're like THE FACE SHOP Lovely Me Ex Makeup Base, I wouldn't mind adding this step to my daily makeup routine! This comes in two colours: Violet and green. The violet is meant to brighten up the skin tone, and the green is for counteracting redness in one's skin.

The packaging is in a sweet and simple faux metal (plastic) squeeze tube! The squeeze tube will allow me to get every last drop of this product. The only minor criticism I have is the plastic is very malleable and a little squeeze may release too much product than I intended. I think the rounded shape of the cap looks very charming. The cap is also useful because it has a lavender sticker label.

The consistency is like milky lotion, and is very easily blended into the skin. This isn't particularly moisturizing, but if you have prepped your skin with an adequate amount of moisturizer, this product will not cling on to your dry patches! If you have very dry skin, you can add a drop of jojoba or coconut oil to the product, mix, and then apply it to your face. For combination skinned people, you may want to skip out on moisturizer on your t-zone when using this. If you have extraordinarily oily skin, I don't recommend this for you. ಥ_ಥ I simulated having oily skin by applying jojoba oil on my face, without setting it, with the makeup base and I found that it separated my foundation and made it look very patchy.

As you can see, it brightens up the tone of my skin, without making it look cakey or ashy. If you have a deeper skin tone, I'd highly recommend for you to blend it down to your declote. Something I have been really impressed with is that it doesn't sink into my many pores :D 

The photo in the after picture makes my skin look more blue toned and lighter in colour.

Other than brightening skin, it also offers a bit coverage. Because of this, there are many days where I'll just apply some of this, and BareMinerals powder foundation to set it, and BAM! My face makeup is done in just 2 minutes. ≧◠◡◠≦✌

I really love that this base is multifunctional. You can cover minor dark circles, wear it just with a powder for a very natural, no-makeup look, mix it in with darker foundations to make it lighter, and use it as a highlight when contouring. Of course you can get creative, and come up with your own concoction!
